Avantis gives you access to all SEC filings going back to the beginnings of electronic filings in EDGAR (1995). Get started searching and setting alerts on SEC filings
1. Research in SEC filings work along the same lines as research in SEDAR filings, but with SEC specific criteria and filters
2. Choose any criteria under +Add Criteria and add them to your main search page
3. Make any selections you’d like in any combination of criteria you’d like to limit your search results
4. Click Search
5. Click on results to open them in the document viewer
6. Remember that the Enhanced Issuer Profile, and all the rich information it makes available, is accessible from any filing by clicking on the issuer name at the top of the document. See Enhanced Issuer Profiles for more information.
1. Exhibit – allows you to limit your search to either only exhibits (excluding the main filings filed along with them) or to specific types of exhibits (eg – searching only exhibit 99 to retrieve only press releases)
2. Form Type – allows you to limit your search to only specific SEC form types (eg – 10-Ks, 424As, S-1s, etc.)
a. You can also narrow your search using the ~Document Category~ (previously called ~Filing Category~) criteria, which nests these form types under appropriate group headings and may be more comprehensive
b. Form types are best used in very targeted searches where a whole category is too broad and only specific form types are desired
3. IRS Number – the same as an Employer Identification Number (EIN), is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service to business entities operating in the United States for the purposes of identification
