Using saved searches as default searches

Avantis allows you to use any saved search as a default or template of a search to work from when starting new searches.   See below for steps on setting up and using default searches.

To use a saved search as a default search

1.      Run a saved search that you’d like to use as your default search

a.      For instructions on saving searches, see Saving and Sharing Searches

2.      Modify to your search in order to find something different or else to use other strategies to find what you’re looking for

3.      When you’re done with your results and want to return back to your default search you started with, click on the Reset button

a.      The Clear button will empty your search pane of all criteria and full text language

b.      The Reset button will return your saved search back to the state it was saved in, dismissing any changes made since you loaded it

                                                    i.      This is a great way to start off with a trusted search and change it, then reset it back to where it started, and change it again and again in order to try different search strategies while returning to a “home base” search in between each
